Woman Dies after Struck by 3 Vehicles on Highway 198 in Hanford

 
HANFORD, CA (January 11, 2023) – A 49-year-old woman died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 198 in Hanford Saturday night on January 7.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:48 p.m. just east of 13th Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the female pedestrian was on the freeway when she walked into the traffic lanes and was struck by a sedan driven by a 55-year-old woman from Visalia.
 
While lying on the roadway, two other vehicles hit the pedestrian.
 
As a result, the victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was not yet identified.
 
All three vehicles that struck the pedestrian stopped and their drivers cooperated with authorities.
 
Officers said that alcohol may have been a factor regarding the pedestrian’s presence on the freeway. They asked anyone with further information to call CHP Hanford Area Public Information Officer T. Palmer at 559-582-0231.
