Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Box Truck at Cherry and Merrill Avenues

 
FONTANA, CA (September 22, 2021) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident at Cherry Avenue and Merrill Avenue.
 
The accident happened around 8:25 p.m. on Monday, September 20. According to the California Highway Patrol, the female pedestrian was running in lanes and was jumping in front of several vehicles, when a box truck hit her. The impact sent the woman into the ground.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the pedestrian to Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Fontana, where she died at 9:15 p.m.
 
The name, age and hometown of the victim were not immediately available.
 
CHP officials are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in this fatal crash.
