Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 8 Freeway [Holtville, CA]

Fatal Pedestrian Accident on 8 Freeway near Brock Research Center Road in Holtville

 
HOLTVILLE, CA (October 4, 2021) – A 32-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on 8 Freeway, Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on September 29, shortly after 5:00 a.m. As per reports, a 2006 Mazda hit the pedestrian in the roadway’s fast lane just east of Brock Research Center Road.
 
Emergency crews later pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. Responders believe that the victim was from the Mexican state of Guerrero.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Mazda remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
Responders temporarily closed eastbound traffic to make way for clearing operations and an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
