Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with SUV on Ming Avenue in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 31, 2023) – A woman was killed in a motorcycle accident on Ming Avenue in Bakersfield Wednesday morning on August 28.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the woman was riding her motorcycle westbound when an SUV made a left turn from the eastbound lane. The vehicles then collided in the 5500 block of Ming Avenue around 11:28 a.m.
 
When officers arrived, they found the woman down in the roadway with major injuries.
 
The woman was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity will be released at a later time by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver of the SUV stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Crews closed westbound Ming Avenue from New Stine Road for several hours while they cleared the wreckage.

Speed and intoxication do not appear to be factors in the crash, which is still under investigation. Anyone with further information is asked to contact BPD at 661-327-7111.
