Man Dies after Struck by SUV while Standing Outside of Van on 580 Freeway in Dublin

 
DUBLIN, CA (August 31, 2023) – A man was hit and killed by a car on 580 Freeway in Dublin early Sunday morning on August 27.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:35 a.m. on the right shoulder of westbound freeway, just east of Eden Canyon Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer veered onto the shoulder and hit a 2021 Ford E-Transit van and its driver who was standing outside of the vehicle.
 
As a result, the driver of the van suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
 
CHP officials are still trying to find out what happened in the moments leading up to the crash. They urged witnesses to contact the CHP’s Dublin station at 925-828-0466.
