Motorcycle Passenger Dies after Crash with Car on East Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (October 2, 2024) – A woman was killed when a motorcycle accident on East Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach Tuesday evening on October 1.
The fatal accident happened around 10:30 p.m. at Kennebec Avenue. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the woman was riding as a passenger on a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard.
For unknown reasons, the motorcycle drifted into the westbound lanes and struck a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse heading westbound.
The impact ejected both the male motorcycle driver and passenger into the westbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard.
Long Beach firefighters responded and rushed both patients to a local hospital, where the female passenger succumbed to her injuries.
The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
The department said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, which is under investigation.
