31-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Shaw Street in California City

 
CALIFORNIA CITY, CA (October 18, 2021) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash near Shaw Street and Karen Avenue in California City Thursday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on October 14. According to the California City Police Department, the 31-year-old woman was walking in the area when a vehicle struck her.
 
The involved driver did not stop after hitting the victim.
 
Officers immediately responded and found the woman lying in the roadway and was unresponsive. They attempted life-saving measures, but the victim died at the scene.
 
Police later located and arrested the driver. They booked the suspect into the Kern County Jail for felony hit and run charges.
 
An investigation is underway.
