Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run on R Street [Merced, CA]

Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run on R Street near Buena Vista Drive and Loughborough Drive

 
MERCED, CA (September 8, 2023) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision on R Street, early Wednesday morning.
 
According to the Merced Police Department, the incident happened on September 6, at about 5:21 a.m. Due to unknown circumstances, a vehicle hit the pedestrian in the area between Buena Vista Drive and Loughborough Drive.
 
Emergency crew later pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the woman, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Officials reported that the victim suffered from injuries consistent with a pedestrian crash. However, no driver remained and cooperated with investigators.
