Woman Dies in Highway 4 Crash with Tanker Truck, Police Pursuit in Antioch

 
ANTIOCH, CA (February 9, 2023) — A woman died in an accident with a tanker truck amid a police chase on Highway 4 near Contra Loma Boulevard.
 
According to California Highway Patrol officers, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. At first, officers spotted a Saturn SUV traveling at unsafe speeds on eastbound Highway 4. The Saturn driver, however, failed to comply and fled the scene.
 
The woman, who remains unidentified, tried to exit about 13 miles east of Contra Loma Boulevard. As the Saturn exited, it sped through a traffic light to try and re-enter the eastbound direction but slammed into a tanker truck in front of it.
 
Soon after, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews and other first responders arrived at the scene. They immediately brought the woman to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, where she died moments after. The tanker truck reported no injuries in the crash.
