Speeding Driver Dies after Crashing into Another Car on 880 Freeway in Fremont

 
FREMONT, CA (March 25, 2024) – A woman was killed in a high-speed accident on 880 Freeway in Fremont Saturday evening on March 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:38 p.m. just north of the Decoto Road on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Ford Taurus traveling south of the freeway at a high rate of speed when it collided with a southbound blue Toyota Prius.
 
The Taurus then struck an embankment, killing the female driver. Her identity was not immediately available.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Prius was unharmed.
 
Officers said there were no other occupants in either car.
 
It is unclear if weather played role in the crash. A storm that brought rain and small hail to the Bay Area on Saturday caused several spin-outs and accidents on area roadways.
 
Further investigation is underway.
