23-Year-Old Woman Dies after Car Accident on 8 Freeway near In-Ko-Pah Park Road

 
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA (July 27, 2022) – A 23-year-old Yuma woman was killed in a car accident on 8 Freeway on Monday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 25 at about 7:15 p.m. A vehicle reportedly lost control and crashed into a guardrail near In-Ko-Pah Park Road.
 
The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its wheels.
 
A medical helicopter transported the driver and a passenger to the University of California, San Diego, Medical Center.
 
As per reports, the passenger was later pronounced dead. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Investigators believe that unsafe speed and heavy rain were factors in the fatal accident.
