51-Year-Old San Jose Woman Dies in Bicycle Accident on Hale Avenue in Coyote Community

 
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA (June 23, 2021) – A woman died in a bicycle accident on Hale Avenue in the unincorporated community of Coyote.
 
The accident happened around 7:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, just north of Blossom Court. According to the CHP, a 26-year-old Morgan Hill man was driving a 2003 Honda southbound when he drifted onto the shoulder for an unknown reason. He then struck the 51-year-old San Jose woman riding a Schwinn bicycle. The woman was thrown from the bicycle.
 
The man pulled over and called 911. Passersby also stopped and helped the woman.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
 
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity once next of kin is notified.
 
Alcohol or drugs did not appear to have played a role in the crash. Authorities asked anyone with further information to contact the Hollister-Gilroy area CHP office at 408-848-2324.
