Woman Dies in Moorpark Ambulance Accident on Highway 118

 
MOORPARK, CA (May 6, 2021) — A woman died in an ambulance accident on Highway 118 near Balcom Canyon Road Tuesday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the violent collision happened around 10:20 p.m. For unknown reasons, the woman, believed to be in her 60s, drove her westbound Saturn into the eastbound lanes. Subsequently, an American Medical Response ambulance slammed into the passenger side of the woman’s car.
 
As a result of the crash, the woman died from her injuries. Shortly after, paramedics responded and transported the ambulance driver to a hospital with minor injuries.
 
At this time, authorities believe that speed had likely played a role in the accident. However, they have yet to determine why the woman traveled into the oncoming lane of traffic.
