Driver Injured in Tanker Truck Accident on Highway 101 near Los Alamos
LOS ALAMOS, CA (October 3, 2023) — A woman suffered serious injuries after her car crashed into a tanker truck on Highway 101 near Alisos Canyon Road.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the two-vehicle crash happened around 6:00 a.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, a woman lost control of her vehicle and collided with a gasoline tanker truck in the southbound lanes.
Shortly after, paramedics reached the scene and performed an extrication to free her from the wreckage. Subsequently, they transported her to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.
Due to the damage, the tanker truck was not drivable and required another tanker truck to remove the gasoline. Fortunately, the truck driver did not report any injuries in the accidents.
Right now, authorities do not have an explanation for the collision. However, we will update this report once we receive more information.
When driving around larger vehicles, take care. Especially if you drive a smaller vehicle, a truck driver may not see your car. Stay out of truck drivers’ blind spots and use your turn signals. Leaving enough room between your vehicle and a larger truck can benefit you.
