Car Fatally Strikes Pedestrian Walking Outside of Crosswalk on Clovis Avenue in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (August 15, 2023) – A woman was fatally struck by a car on Clovis Avenue in east central Fresno early Monday morning on August 14.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 2:00 a.m. at Shields Avenue. According to the Fresno Police Department, the woman who was walking outside of a crosswalk was struck by an unknown vehicle.
 
Paramedics immediately responded and rushed the woman to an area hospital, where the victim died a short time later.
 
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police. He was not suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
 
At this time, the identity of the woman was withheld pending next of kin notification.
 
Further investigation is underway.
