63-Year-Old Woman Killed in Collision with Amtrak Train near Upland Road in Camarillo

 
CAMARILLO, CA (January 5, 2024) – A driver died in an Amtrak train accident near Upland Road, Tuesday morning.
 
According to the Ventura County Fire Department, the incident happened on January 2, shortly after 10:35 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a westbound white sedan stopped on the railroad tracks.
 
The engineer saw the vehicle and applied emergency brakes. However, the train could not stop in time and hit the vehicle near the intersection of Upland Road and Lewis Road.
 
A helicopter transported the sedan driver to a trauma center, where she later died. Authorities only identified the victim as a 63-year-old woman. Her name is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
 
None of the passengers sustained injuries.
 
The Camarillo Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Anyone with information is asked to call Deputy Luke Riordan at (805) 388-5100.
