Woman Detained in Wrong-Way Police Pursuit on 15 Freeway

ESCONDIDO, CA (March 16, 2022) — A woman was arrested in a wrong-way police chase on the 15 Freeway near Gopher Canyon Road on Saturday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the chase began around 4:22 p.m. For unknown reasons, a female driver entered the 15 Freeway in the wrong direction. She then began driving southbound in the northbound lane. As police pursued her in the northbound lane, she reportedly sideswiped a few vehicles.

However, no one reported any injuries as of late.

By 5:13 p.m., the woman finally slowed down and stopped her car, south of Gopher Canyon Road. Police subsequently took her into custody. However, at this time, officers have not confirmed if DUI played a factor in the accident.

Driving in the wrong direction can end terribly for others and yourself. Pay attention to all road signs for freeway entrances. Also, never drink and drive, as this may distort your vision and compromise your judgment.
