Woman, 2 Children Hurt in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash at Buckingham Way in Fresno

FRESNO, CA (August 21, 2023) — A woman and two toddlers reported minor injuries in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident at Buckingham Way and Van Ness Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the hit-and-run accident happened Friday afternoon in the Old Fig Garden neighborhood. Around 4:00 p.m., a driver driving forward after making a stop struck a stroller with two boys — ages 1 and 2 — in it. Upon impact, the stroller toppled over, leaving the two children strapped in their seatbelts with minor scrapes and bumps.

Rather than pulling over, the driver — described as a man — left the scene. Now, authorities need witnesses’ help in looking for the vehicle and driver involved. If anyone has more information, please call the CHP at 559-262-0400.

When you make a complete stop at a stop sign or intersection, clear the road before proceeding. It can come second nature for many drivers to quickly proceed before watching for any pedestrians or bicyclists. Stay stopped and let pedestrians pass if they have the right-of-way.
