HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (August 15, 2022)Tyson Young was arrested in a DUI head-on accident on Highway 101 near Dora Creek.

According to a California Highway Patrol news release, the two-vehicle crash happened around 7:11 p.m. For DUI-related reasons, 41-year-old Young allowed his southbound gold Toyota Tundra to cross into the northbound lane.

Subsequently, the Tundra veered into the path of a northbound maroon Kia Sedona, driven by 44-year-old Joe T. Kencke. As a result, both vehicles crashed head-on south of Dora Creek.

Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and found Young with major injuries before taking him to Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital for care.

Medical staff also brought 41-year-old Rebekah L. Kencke, a Kia passenger who sustained moderate injuries, to Jerold Phelps Community Hospital and a 15-year-old Kia passenger to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries.

Joe Kencke, a 17-year-old, and 10-year-old in the Kia reported no wounds in the crash.

Following an investigation by the CHP, officials determined that DUI likely played a factor in this head-on collision and arrested Young. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm the details. If anyone has news to share, please call the CHP.
