Car Hits and Seriously Injures Two at Lakeside Truck Inspection Checkpoint on Olde Highway 80

 
EL CAJON, CA (November 27, 2022) – Two people were seriously injured in a pedestrian accident on Olde Highway 80 in El Cajon Friday on November 18.
 
The accident happened around 10:10 a.m. near Lake Jennings Park Road. According to reports, a CHP employee, a 57-year-old civilian, and a truck driver, a 62-year-old man from Fallbrook, were outside of their vehicles on the extra-wide shoulder of the road for a commercial vehicle inspection.
 
Moments later, a 2007 green Toyota Camry crashed into them at an unknown speed.
 
The impact caused the employee and the trucker major injuries. Paramedics transported both victims to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment.
 
The driver of the Camry, a 66-year-old man, stopped after the crash and cooperated with officers.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
