One Airlifted after Weaverville Go-Kart Accident on Washington Street near Highway 299

 
WEAVERVILLE, CA (November 14, 2022) – Two riders sustained injuries in a go-kart accident on Washington Street, Sunday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on November 13, at about 1:50 p.m. The go-kart driver reportedly swerved in an attempt to avoid a vehicle. However, the go-kart lost control and crashed near Highway 299.
 
A juvenile girl suffered a broken pelvis and other major injuries. An air ambulance transported the victim to a hospital in Redding for treatment.
 
Meanwhile, the second rider was also hospitalized with less serious injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
