JACKSON, CA (November 14, 2022) – A 19-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 49, Saturday evening.
 
According to the Jackson Police Department, the incident happened on November 12, at about 10:35 p.m. A white Ford F-350 was southbound on the highway when the driver spotted a pedestrian kneeling in the roadway.
 
The driver swerved to avoid a collision, but the left front of the vehicle hit the pedestrian near Scottsville Boulevard. As per reports, the vehicle behind the Ford also swerved when the driver saw the incident.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, both drivers remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
Jackson police continue to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers ask witnesses to call JPD at (209) 223-1771.
