Wrong-Way Driver Causes Head-On Crash on Highway 65 in Porterville

 
PORTERVILLE, CA (December 5, 2023 – Two men were hospitalized in a head-on accident on Highway 65 in Porterville late Friday evening on December 1.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:00 p.m. just north of Highway 190. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2007 Honda Civic was traveling northbound in the southbound Highway 65. At the same time, a 2019 Dodge Challenger was heading southbound on Highway 65 at approximately 65 mph approaching the Honda.
 
The driver of the Dodge lost control and was unable to avoid the Honda, causing a head-on collision.
 
As a result, the driver of the Dodge suffered moderate injuries while driver of the Honda sustained major injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
