Car Crashes into Back of Semi Truck on Highway 395 in Inyo County Killing Man and Woman

 
INYO COUNTY, CA (July 18, 2022) – Two people died in a rear-end accident on Highway 395 in Inyo County on Saturday afternoon, July 16.
 
The accident happened around 1:04 p.m. near Dunmovin. According to the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office, a white 2020 Hyundai Sonata was traveling northbound on the highway at approximately 65 mph. At the same time, a 2006 Freightliner pulling a U.S. Airforce vehicle was traveling in the same lane, also going north but moving much slower.
 
The Hyundai failed to slow and slammed into the back end of the Freightliner.
 
As a result, both the driver and passenger of the Hyundai died at the scene. The driver was a 23-year-old man from La Mesa, while the passenger was a 22-year-old woman from Ashland, Ohio.
 
The 45-year-old driver of the Freightliner from Lakewood, Ohio, was not injured.
 
At this time, an investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
