James Chapman Detained in Police Pursuit on Happy Valley Road near Majestic View Drive

 
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (July 18, 2022)James Chapman was arrested following a police chase on Happy Valley Road near Majestic View Drive on Friday.
 
According to Shasta County deputies, the incident happened around 5:10 a.m. After 36-years-old Chapman tried to hit a Shasta County deputy head-on while driving the wrong way, a pursuit unfolded. The Redding suspect subsequently led officers on a chase through Shasta County, including on Highway 273 and near the Redding Airport.
 
At some point, Chapman attempted to cause another head-on collision with the same deputy, but the deputy successfully evaded the crash.
 
After learning that Chapman was on his way to his girlfriend’s house to shoot her, deputies, Cal Fire and California Highway Patrol air operations joined to monitor his location.
 
Moments later, police saw his car parked at a home on Falling Oaks Road where he drove through several fences. There, police learned that he took off running on foot. However, with the help of a K-9, police arrested Chapman.
 
At this time, Chapman remains incarcerated at Shasta County Jail for reckless driving, assault with a deadly weapon and other charges.
