Two Pedestrians Dead after Driver Hits Group Crossing Almaden Expressway in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (January 20, 2022) – Two people were killed in a pedestrian accident on Almaden Expressway in San Jose on Tuesday evening.
 
The accident happened around 8:25 p.m. on January 18 near Foxworthy Avenue. According to the San Jose Department, a 2017 Toyota sedan was traveling north under a green light when it hit a group of three people walking across Almaden Expressway outside of a crosswalk.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after and took all three pedestrians to a hospital, where the two male pedestrians died. A woman was treated for moderate injuries and was expected to survive.
 
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the victims once next of kin are notified.
 
Meanwhile, the car’s airbag deployed and the shattered windshield injured the driver.
 
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol was a factor. The fatal crash is still under investigation.
