Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 20 in Sutter County Leaves 2 Dead

 
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (July 7, 2021) – Two people were killed in a multiple-vehicle accident on Highway 20 in Sutter County Tuesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened just after 2:30 p.m. on July 6, at North Humphrey Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a GMC 3500 rear-ended a Nissan Titan that was heading eastbound. The impact caused the Nissan to lose control and veer into the westbound lane.
 
A westbound sand and gravel big rig with two trailers hit the passenger side of the Nissan, causing the Nissan’s cabin to detach from the cargo bed and the vehicle caught fire.
 
As a result, the Nissan’s driver and the passenger suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Both the drivers of the GMC and the big rig were taken to a hospitals with unspecified injuries.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the crash to determine the factors involved and liability.
