Driver Violet Nazari, Passenger Juan Munoz Die in Sylmar Car Accident

 
SYLMAR, CA (May 18, 2021) – Two people were killed Sunday evening in a high-speed accident on Foothill Boulevard near Balboa Boulevard.
 
The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. at 16637 West Foothill Boulevard on May 9. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by a 50-year-old man crossed over double yellow lines and into the opposite lane. As a result, he crashed head-on into another vehicle.
 
The woman driving the car died at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner office identified her as 57-year-old Violet Nazari of Granada Hills.
 
The Coroner’s office also identified a second person killed in the crash as 32-year-old Juan Munoz from Sylmar. He was a passenger in the car that collided into Nazari’s vehicle. Soon after the accident, he died at an area hospital.
 
The driver’s name has not yet been released, he is only described as a 50-year-old man. Paramedics also transported the driver to a hospital. However, information on his condition has not been released.
 
An investigation into this fatal accident is ongoing. In addition, police are looking for any witnesses.
