Food Truck Crashes Over Guardrail on 5 Freeway in Bakersfield Injuring Two People

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 7, 2023) – At least two people were injured in a truck accident near 5 Freeway and Highway 99 split in Bakersfield Wednesday on December 6.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a food truck was driving in the southbound lanes of the freeway. For unknown reasons, the truck went over the guardrail and into the northbound lanes.
 
One person was ejected during the crash. That person was airlifted to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Another person in the food truck sustained minor injuries.
 
Crews closed both directions of traffic during the rescue operation.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
