Rollover Crash on Highway 17 in Santa Cruz Injures Driver and Passenger

 
SANTA CRUZ, CA (November 14, 2022) – Two people were injured in a rollover accident on Highway 17 in Santa Cruz Thursday afternoon on November 10.
 
The accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. just north of the connector ramp with southbound Highway 1. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 20-year-old Watsonville man was driving a 2013 Mazda when he veered off the roadway and went up a dirt embankment. The Mazda then hit a metal guardrail and overturned.
 
A passenger in the Mazda, an 18-year-old Aptos woman, suffered major injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to Natividad Medical Center. The Mazda driver had minor injuries.
 
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
