ALPINE, CA (March 1, 2022) – Two people suffered injuries in a fiery wrong-way accident on 8 Freeway in Alpine, early Thursday morning.

The accident happened just after 2:00 a.m. on February 24 near East Victoria Drive. CHP officials said a gold Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the freeway when it collided head-on with a blue compact car. The impact caused both cars to burst into flames.

Responding firefighters were able to pull both drivers from the cars before anyone was burned.

Paramedics then took the Altima’s female driver and the male driver of the other car to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
