Early Morning Hit-and-Run Crash on Baker Street Sends Man and Woman to Hospital

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 31, 2023) – Two people were hospitalized in a hit-and-run crash on Baker Street in east Bakersfield early Sunday morning on August 27.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a white four-door SUV struck a man and woman in the 600 block of Baker Street shortly after 12:09 a.m.
 
After striking the two, the driver of the SUV did not stop.
 
Responding officers found the two pedestrians lying in the roadway. They transported both to local hospitals, where the man was listed in critical condition. The woman was in stable condition.
 
During the preliminary investigation, officers determined the victims were crossing the roadway when the SUV reversed into them, running them over.
 
At this time, police are still investigating the crash. They urged anyone with further information to contact BPD at 661-327-7111.
