Early Morning Crash on Highway 1 in Carmel Highlands Injures Driver and Passenger

 
CARMEL HIGHLANDS, CA (August 24, 2023) – Two people were hospitalized in a car accident on Highway 1 in Carmel Highlands early Sunday morning on August 20.
 
The accident happened around 12:58 a.m. at Sonoma Lane. CalFire said a black Chevrolet Camaro was traveling on the highway when it crashed for unknown reasons.
 
The Carmel Highlands Fire District responded along with other first responders. Upon arrival, they found the sport car with severe damage on the side of the road and airbags were deployed.
 
Firefighters extricated both the driver and the passenger from the car. Both were then taken to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
 
At this time, it is unclear if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
