Driver, Passenger Killed in Solo Car Accident on South Vineland Road in Lamont

 
LAMONT, CA (October 18, 2022) – Two people were killed in a solo car accident on South Vineland Road on Sunday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on October 16 at about 10:10 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a northbound 2009 Infiniti G37 drifted onto a dirt shoulder on the east side of the roadway.
 
The driver overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. Then, the Infiniti crashed into a tree near Buena Vista Road.
 
The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to rotate and hit another tree.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the 24-year-old driver and his passenger dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victims, pending notification of next of kin.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
