Police Arrest Woman for DUI and Hit-and-Run Charges after Crash near James Road in Oildale

 
OILDALE, CA (July 31, 2023) – Two children were involved in a DUI hit-and-run crash near James Road and McCray Street in Oildale late Thursday evening.
 
The crash happened around 11:00 p.m. on July 27. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2014 Ford Edge with her two children, ages 10 and 8. For unknown reasons, she collided with a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz.
 
As a result, the passenger of the Chevrolet suffered moderate injuries. Paramedics took them to a hospital along with the driver.
 
Meanwhile, the woman tried to escape on foot with the children. Police later found her several hundred feet away from crash site. They arrested and took her to Kern County jail for driving under the influence of alcohol and for a felony hit-and-run causing injury.
 
Officers returned the children back into their father’s custody.
 
An investigation is underway.
