OCEANSIDE, CA (August 17, 2023) — A toddler was hit and killed by a car on San Tomas Drive near Tiffany Drive.
 
According to the Oceanside police, the pedestrian accident happened around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday. Under unclear circumstances, a 16-month-old toddler who was reportedly in the road was hit by a 62-year-old driver in a white Ford F-150.
 
Soon after, First Responders arrived to perform life-saving efforts on the child. However, measures fell short, and the child died at the scene.
 
Following the crash, the driver stayed and cooperated with police investigators who did not suspect impairment to have played a role.
 
Reports noted that the driver and the toddler lived in the neighborhood. A neighbor said the toddler’s grandfather stood at the scene, cupping his face, appearing visibly distraught.
