13-Year-Old Steals Family Car and Crashes in Woodland Killing 1 and Injuring 10

 
WOODLAND, CA (April 11, 2023)Tina Vital died in a crash caused by a teen driver in a stolen vehicle attempting to evade police in Woodland on Saturday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on April 8, at the intersection of College Street and Court Street. According to the Woodland Police Department, a 13-year-old stole a family member’s SUV. He was driving erratically and then failed to stop when officers tried to pull him over.
 
Police said the teen led them on a chase and then crashed into two other vehicles, causing the cars to burst into flames.
 
Vital died in the crash. She was 43 years old.
 
Paramedics transported at least 10 people to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
Vital’s family said she was a mother of two, an adult son and a daughter. Both of them were in the car with Vital during the crash, along with her 5-year-old granddaughter. All three are in the hospital in critical condition.
 
Police said, after getting medical treatment, the teenage driver will be booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and evading causing injuries.
