Thomas Owens Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Twentynine Palms Highway [Yucca Valley, CA]

Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Sedan on Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley

 
YUCCA VALLEY, CA (December 26, 2022) – Thomas Owens died in a motorcycle accident in Yucca Valley Thursday afternoon on December 22.
 
The accident happened around 5:09 p.m. at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Hanford Avenue. According to the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station, Owens was riding his white Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound in the first lane of Twentynine Palms Highway, approaching Hanford Avenue. At the same time, a grey Toyota Corolla was also traveling east on Twentynine Palms Highway.
 
Based on driver and witness statements, traffic was stopped on Twentynine Palms Highway and Owens failed to see traffic ahead of him.
 
Owens applied his brakes and skidded a short distance before laying his motorcycle down. He then collided into the rear of the Corolla.
 
First responders rushed Owens to Hi-Desert Medical Center, where he later died. He was 50 years old from Joshua Tree.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Corolla was not injured.
 
Authorities confirmed that it does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
