Teen Killed in DUI Accident on Highway 108 near Koinonia Court [Mi-Wuk Village, CA]

19-Year-Old Passenger Dies after DUI Crash on Highway 101 in Mi-Wuk Village, Police Arrest 17-Year-Old Driver

 
MI-WUK VILLAGE, CA (September 22, 2021) – A 19-year-old man was killed in a DUI accident on Highway 108 in Mi-Wuk Village Monday evening.
 
The accident happened around 8:34 p.m. on September 20, near Koinonia Court. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 17-year-old male from Soulsbyville was driving a 2021 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on the highway when he lost control in a left-hand curve. The pickup then struck an embankment and overturned on its roof.
 
The male passenger from Sonora, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected during the crash. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics airlifted the driver to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of minor injuries.
 
Police later arrested the teen driver for driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. They booked him booked into the Mother Lode Regional Juvenile Detention Facility.
 
Further investigation into this fatal crash is underway.
