17-Year-Old Girl Dies after Struck by Vehicle on West 17th Street in Santa Ana

 
SANTA ANA, CA (July 14, 2023)Tania Godinez Valencia was killed in a pedestrian accident in Santa Ana Monday afternoon on July 10.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:40 p.m. at 2000 West 17th Street. According to the Santa Ana Police Department, Valencia was walking northbound as she crossed the street when a westbound vehicle struck her.
 
First responders rushed Valencia to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
 
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, Valencia succumbed to her injuries Wednesday on July 12.
 
Loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for Valencia’s funeral. The page has raised $2,435 so far of a $20,000 goal.
 
Meanwhile, the driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
