Student Detained, School Employee Hurt in Pedestrian Crash at Sonora High School

 
SONORA, CA (February 20, 2023) — A student was arrested in a pedestrian accident that injured a school employee at Sonora High School near Washington Street.
 
According to the Sonora Police Department, the pedestrian incident happened around 12:15 p.m. Thursday on the school’s parking lot campus. Under unclear circumstances, the Sonora High School student struck a school employee after both engaged in a verbal confrontation.
 
The man suffered non-life-threatening moderate injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. Following the accident, police arrested the high school student for felony assault with a deadly weapon.
 
At this time, police will release no other information until an investigation completes.
