Head-On Crash on Calle Contento at Madera de Playa Drive Kills Man and His Dog

 
TEMECULA, CA (December 12, 2022) – Steven Lowe and his dog died in a head-on crash in Temecula Wednesday afternoon on December 7.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:14 p.m. on Calle Contento, just north of Madera de Playa Drive. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, Lowe was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tracker southbound. For unknown reasons, he crossed into the northbound traffic and smashed head-on into a 2015 Mercedes-Benz SUV.
 
As a result, Lowe suffered major injuries. First responders rushed him to Wildomar’s Inland Valley Medical Center, where he later died. He was a 71-year-old Temecula resident, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau.
 
Officers confirmed Lowe was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
 
There were two dogs inside Lowe’s car. One was also killed in the crash.
 
Meanwhile, a 52-year-old woman driving the Mercedes suffered major injuries.
 
An investigation is ongoing. The CHP Temecula Area office asked witnesses to contact them at 951-506-2000.
