Speeding Car Rolls Over after Striking Tree on 110 Freeway in South LA Ejecting and Killing Two Women

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (April 9, 2023) – Stephanie Guerra and Ashley Salinas were killed in a rollover accident on 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles early Thursday morning on April 6.
 
The fatal accident happened around 1:40 a.m. near the Slauson Avenue exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, the women were in a four-door sedan that was speeding southbound on the freeway when it drifted off and hit the right embankment. It also struck a tree and rolled over on its side, ejecting the two women.
 
One of the two women was also struck by another car that was traveling south. The driver of that car, a 29-year-old man, stopped and called 911.
 
The victims died at the scene. Guerra was 19 years old while Salinas was 18, according to the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office.
 
It is unknown if the women were wearing seatbelts, but it appears that speed was a factor.
 
An investigation into this accident is underway.
