Steffan Coulson Dead, Jose Cabrera Detained in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 99 near Betty Drive

 
TULARE COUNTY, CA (April 19, 2022) — Steffan Coulson died in a wrong-way DUI accident on Highway 99 near Betty Drive on Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle accident happened around 4:15 a.m. When officers received a call about a wrong-way driver on Highway 198, they quickly learned that the driver changed course. Soon after, authorities responded to Highway 99 near Betty Drive, the scene of the crash, to find that two vehicles had crashed, one of which had been the wrong-way vehicle.
 
For DUI reasons, 30-year-old Jose Cabrera drove in the wrong direction in his 2020 Honda Civic and crashed his northbound vehicle into a southbound 2015 Nissan Versa.
 
As a result, Cabrera suffered major injuries, prompting paramedics to bring him to Kaweah Health Medical Center.
 
As for 36-year-old Coulson, the Nissan driver, he died at the scene.
 
Once he releases from the hospital, Cabrera will face multiple felony charges.
