Stacey Cloud Dies after Struck by Sedan in South Sacramento

 
SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA (August 21, 2022) – 57-Year-Old Stacey Lloyd Cloud from Sacramento died in a pedestrian accident in South Sacramento on Wednesday morning, August 17.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:23 a.m. just east of East Southgate Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, Cloud was walking south along the busy and uncontrolled intersection when a 2016 Dodge Challenger traveling east at 40 mph struck him.
 
Witnesses told officers the driver of the Challenger saw Cloud and swerved to avoid him. At the same time, Cloud must have observed the sedan and had moved from the middle lane to the left lane.
 
However, the right-front fender of the Challenger struck Cloud, causing him fatal injuries.
 
The intersection in front of the Krispy Kreme had no pedestrian crossing or roadway markings, the CHP said.
 
The driver of the Challenger, a 23-year-old Oakley man, remained on scene and cooperated with officers. He was not cited.
 
At this time, an investigation underway.
