Car Crashes Down Embankment on 10 Freeway in Banning Killing 19-Year-Old Serenity Lira

 
BANNING, CA (June 15, 2022) – 19-year-old Fontana resident Serenity Lira was killed in a car accident on 10 Freeway in Banning early Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 12:35 a.m. approximately a quarter mile east of Hargrave Street. According to reports, a car crashed down an embankment in unclear circumstances.
 
As a result, Lira suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau. It is unclear if she was the driver or a passenger.
 
A GoFundMe page set up for Lira’s family had raised more than $7,700 as of Monday morning.
 
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department also reported that another person suffered moderate injuries. An update on that person’s medical condition was not known.
 
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
