Sarbjit Singh Hurt, Eric Eaker Uninjured in Fatal Multi-Car Crash on 5 Freeway near County Road 39

 
WILLOWS, CA (August 28, 2023) — Sarbjit Singh suffered serious injuries in a deadly multi-car accident on the 5 Freeway near County Road 39.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-car accident happened around 2:18 p.m. Thursday. For an unknown reason, 42-year-old Sarbjit Singh failed to acknowledge the stopped traffic ahead. Subsequently, his 2020 Kenworth slammed into a 2010 International model, driven by a 57-year-old man, causing the International model to hit the car in front. Reports described the last car hit as a 2022 Volvo, driven by 59-year-old Eric Eaker.
 
As a result of the crash, the 57-year-old driver of the International perished in the accident. Singh suffered unknown injuries and was airlifted to Enloe Medical Center for care. Eaker did not report any injuries.
 
At this time, authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a factor, but they are looking into other possibilities. If anyone has seen this crash, please call the CHP.
