Samrawit Abbadura Killed in DUI Crash on 16th Street [Oakland, CA]

23-Year-Old Woman Dies after Crash with DUI Driver in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (December 15, 2023) – Samrawit Abbadura was killed in a DUI crash in Oakland Wednesday morning on December 13.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:45 a.m. at 16th Street and Mandela Parkway. According to the Oakland Police Department, a blue Ford Fusion, was fleeing the scene of another crash. It sped past two stop signs and hit Abbadura’s Honda at the intersection. The cars then crashed into two other cars and a fence.
 
As a result, Abbadura suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was a 23-year-old Oakland resident.
 
Abbadura’s female passenger sustained unspecified injuries, while the driver of the Fusion had severe injuries. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.
 
Police believe the driver of the Ford was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. They also determine that the Ford was a stolen car.
 
This fatality remains under investigation. Police traffic investigators urged anyone with further information to call them at 510-777-8570.
