SLO Police Identify Bicyclist Killed in Crash with Semi Truck on Suburban Road near Higuera Street

 
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (June 27, 2021) – Salvador Cortez identified as the bicyclist killed in an accident Friday morning in San Luis Obispo.
 
The accident happened around 7:20 a.m. on June 25, on Suburban Road near Higuera Street. The San Luis Obispo Police Department said the 61-year-old victim from San Luis Obispo was riding his bicycle north on Higuera when a semi truck turning onto Suburban struck him.
 
Cortez suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. His bicycle could be seen on the ground under the front of the truck.
 
Officials said the truck driver is cooperating with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to factors in the crash. Anyone with further information is urged to contact SLOPD at 805-781-7317.
