23-Year-Old Bakersfield Woman Dies in Early Morning DUI Accident on Highway 43
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 27, 2021) – A woman was killed in a DUI accident on Highway 43 in Bakersfield early Sunday morning last week.
The accident happened around 12:02 a.m. on June 20, just south of Munzer Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 1999 Ford southbound on the highway when she lost control of the car.
The Ford then traveled off the roadway onto the west dirt shoulder and rolled into a utility pole. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries.
Arriving units pronounced the woman dead at the scene. They only identified her as a 23-year-old Bakersfield resident.
The CHP said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
